Summary
My husband's company switched from Blue Cross/Blue Shield to United Healthcare at the beginning of 2007. We went from having excellent insurance to having coverage that is only slightly better than nothing. Only one of the doctors we have been seeing for the last twenty years will take United Healthcare. Our family doctor's administrator called United Healthcare the lowest of the low. The nearest hospital will not take the insurance. I had an emergency room visit in January and we specifically went to hospital we would normally never go to because that was the nearest one that would take United Healthcare. Six months later, I'm still trying to get the bills paid. I talk to claims reps who say the claim has been or will be paid and then I get a huge bill saying that the insurer has advised that I haven't provided them with enough information. This company is the best argument for socialized medicine that I've ever encountered.

when i got laid off i opted for COBRA. the company that laid me off inadvertently (?) cancelled my insurance. it took a month but was finally fixed. however, instead of re-instating me as of the date they cancelled me, they picked the first day of the following month. all sorts of havoc has been wreaked. non payment of doctors bill, letters from collection agencies. i've spoken to several customer service reps and they claim it's all fixed...but a week later i get another collection notice...and they always arrive on friday!!!

I have found UHC to be the most unfriendly in customer service, rude and unprofessional. The reps I have had the misfortune of speaking with did not want to help anyone. They were fast to transfer and faster to just disconnect. I am now told that after 7 weeks of trying to get a copy of my insurance coverage in reqards to my upcoming surgery with out success. I am now informed that an insurance company is required by law to give me a "certificate of coverage" seems no one at UHC that I spoke with knows that.

Summary
I have been battling with UHC for months now to get reiumbursement for claims which they have continually told me will be reimbursed in 10 business days. Thir customer service department continually assures me that things will be taken care of within those 10 business days, I wait those 10 business days and then call again. Yesterday I was so upset I thought they were going to have to pay for an anxiety attack! I was to receive a call by 2 pm today from the supervisor in the rapid resolutions area of the claims department and have not received it as yet. 1 hour 15 minutes to go and I am reporting them to the insurance commissioner of Indiana. DO NOT trust UHC with your money. I know my $800 is not drawing them a lot of interest however, I also am not so naive as to believe I am the only consumer they are pulling this scam on. Just imagine how "financially secure" we could all be if we could draw interest on hundred of other peoples money!!

I would like to express an opinion and would hope that this email will reach all of the corporate officers of UHC since there is no contact information on their website. Our company just switched our employee healthcare insurance from Blue Cross/Blue Shield to UHC and I am so very disappointed in the change in coverage for Prosthetics. My husband is the bravest and most determined man that I know personally. He was in a near fatal accident almost 2 years ago. After several surgeries to save his leg, his right leg was amputated below the knee and a titanium rod replaced his femur above the knee. He works in the construction industry. His employer was very supportive and saved his job for him for the 7 months it took him to rehabilitate himself. He wears a below the knee prosthetic. He worked hard to be able to go back to work and do the same job he has always done - and he succeeded! But now, our future is unclear. When my husband requires repair or replacement of his prosthetic leg, he may be forced to stop working because we cannot afford to pay the amount of the HUGE gap in our UHC insurance policy limit and the true cost of an artificial leg. In return for the premiums we pay for health insurance, we expect to be covered for catastrophic injury or illness. It appears that UHC has decided to severely limit coverage for prosthetic limbs. Arms and legs are not a luxury! They are a necessity to lead a productive life! Imagine a child losing a limb to disease or injury and having to face growing up in a wheel chair when prosthetic limbs are readily available, but not attainable, due to such poor coverage in the family's medical insurance policy. I understand that there are some states that have a state mandate that requires prosthetic coverage within the same parameters as Medicare coverage. Shame on United Healthcare for having to be forced by law to provide coverage that is reasonable and such a necessity of a decent and productive life. Prosthetic coverage without limits is the right thing to do. Will UHC do the right thing?

Summary
United Healthcare has the ACN over veiwing their Chiropractic services. The ACN will deny services if they feel you do not need those services even if your Primary Care Doctor has perscribed them. The ACN will NOT talk to the patient about the coverage or the reasons why they are denying services. They have refused to have any of my MRIs report sent to them to read or to look at the film in order to help make their decisions. The ACn and United Healthcare do not think I need treatments even though I have degenerative disk disease, arthritis of the back, scoliosis, Fibromyalgia, Migraines, a vertebrae pinching the spinal cord in my neck causeing my left arm to go numb, and Bursitis. United Healthcare and the ACN should not be in business because they are playing doctor without the needed information and basically do not care about peoples health at all.

Summary
Health Care should be about people and CARE, not about profits. The company does all it can to cheat the consumers and the Doctors to maintain profits so the CEO can pull down millions a year in salary. Health care in this country in general needs to be changed in a drastic and significant way.
