Unicare is absolutely the worst insurance provider I have ever had. Although the lower premiums are attractive, I have had nothing but problems regarding claims. I am fairly healthy, and had a few routine medical visits including a minor procedure. However, the doctors both have had issues with Unicare demanding additional information -- this has now been going on for 5 months, and is impacting my otherwise excellent credit. On the procedure I had, Unicare settled the claim with the physician, but has not settled with the outpatient facility provider, stating that they are requiring additional information to ensure the issue was not a pre-existing condition -- how illogical that they would settle with the doctor for the same procedure but NOT with the facility provider. I am terminating coverage with Unicare, and plan to file a complaint with the Illinois agency that regulates insurance companies. STAY AWAY FROM UNICARE!

I have been insured by Unicare through my employer for over two years. Coverage has been good, claims payment prompt. I have only made one phone call for service and that was OK.

Where to start, the price was so cheap I bought it and was suckered in to believe it was the best, when in fact, it didn't pay for squat....and after 3 months I had an increase of 19% for my monthly premium....ouch, never buy from this company go with someone that has a smooth track record and a 12 month rate guarentee

don't ever buy this coverage, the rates were very cheap at first, then they kept creeping up, then they paid nothing for my claims, I paid more then they did! i guess you get what you pay for!

They avoid paying claims and raise the premium AT LEAST once a year whether any claims have been turned in or not. I would have rated the cost a "0" if that was a choice. On the review that says "you get what you pay for..." I don't think you even get that.
