Their customer service is awful. They can't even give you basic information from the coverage book. My child had surgery last month which was pre-certified and I am still waiting for my copy of the letter! I've called three times and the person this morning told me to call my Drs office and get it from them! Called three times for replacement ID cards and not gotten those either. Once you hit your DD, watch out, because they look for anything and everything to deny a claim (in my experience). I am in insurance myself so I really feel for people who are not and are getting steamrolled by these idiots.

Unicare denied my knee surgery claims, saying preexisting. But I had seen no doctor before. I did tell knee surgeon I felt some pain a few months prior when stretching, but he said that would not tear knee meniscus (cartilage). Unicare claimed preexisting BEFORE they even had the doc's notes! I did ask insurance agent about the knee pain and how to handle on the application med history questionaire, he said don't self-diagnose. Unicare also 1. Ignored my written request for "what" was preexisting, and when was that? 2. Ignored my Creditable Coverage certificate , which policy says they "will" issue credit for 3. Now threatens to rescind policy if I don't accept knee exclusion waiver in 12 days 4. Gave me a fax number to which I faxed doctor's opinion letter, which they told me the next day "is an old number"a 5. Told the hospital billing dept. that "something happened in October" I can smell $$$$'s!!! Can you??

Unicare denied my disibility claim after they have had me see there here say insurance doctor said i was able to work...these doctors work for the insurance and are telling what they want to hear...so they call my house at 5:00pm andtell me to report to work the next day!!there is no way i can workmy job at this time of recovery..they dis regarded my primary doctors documents and sent there doctors notes to my employer..now i have no income and they what me to pay 100% cobra...i want to go to work asap but still recoverying from a accident and in to much pain and healing. don't let this company scare you like this ...the bottom line is what your primary doctors says to do...and i'm not going to let them get away with this I'm fighting this...what is there deal? people need to heal and my doctor said i might be back in a month or so if i keep showing the inprovment...bottom line it's all about the money..how do they sleep at night!!!!well i hope this helps take care JT

I went to a hospital that was in network and should be covered at 100% after my copay. I argued with Unicare about this a year ago, they claim the emergency room and their physicians are not in network. They never contacted me to let me know the results and I assumed it was over (I have not rec'd one bill from the er). My husband and I decided to go with his employers insurance and all the sudden I am sent an explanation of benefits claiming I owe the same amount from over a year ago. I called and they said they just reviewed it (a year later, how convenient)!! NO supervisors to speak with. They said they would have one call me back with 24 to 48 hours, no one called. Horrible customer service.

I had to e-mail the Wellpoint board of directors to get my claims paid by Unicare. They sent them to the wrong office. Now they are flipping back and forth on whether a doctor of mine is in network or not. I e-mailed the Wellpoint Chairman of the Board. It seems the only way to get them to do their job is to raise a stink with their bosses. Stay as far away from these idiots as possible.

I have been with Unicare for about 3 years. First my son's Doctor dropped them, then because a Doctor wrote up the bill wrong, I had to pay $3,000 in Catscan Bills. It took six months to get that corrected. Now Childrens Memorial Hospital is having a problem with them. Worst Insurance I have ever had, next to HMO Illinois.

they dont pay anthong if you have an emergency. rip off. im stuck with 1000 dollars in med bills
