Dividends went up also which is awesome in today's economy. We've been very blessed to be associated with Thrivent, not only personally, but our church and school has benefited much also. I am rather disgruntled with the long term care insurance. Mom and dad have been in an assisted living residence with level 2 care...meds..showers..wheelchairs..meals brought to room when necessary..etc. They have paid out of pocket for 2 yrs-approx $125,000.00 with the expectation their LTC insurance would finally start paying off and pay the monthly amount. Now we are to find that the policy will only pay 60% of their benefit (approx 2k short per mo) as even though they have nursing care available 24/7 at this facility-they do not have a 'nursing home license'. It is just wrong....BEWARE...... Pitfall No. 3: Definition of a "facility" There are no national standards on what counts as a long-term care facility. That means the definition of what precisely is an "assisted-living facility" or "adult day-care center" can vary widely from policy to policy and state to state. Consequently, if you buy a policy in one state and then retire to another state, there might not be facilities in your new state that match the definition in your policy — and you'd have nowhere to go. Recommendation: Make sure you understand exactly what kind of facilities the policy will cover before you buy it. And call the facilities themselves to make sure they fit the criteria in your policy.
