I was involved in a hit and run accident three weeks ago (tomorrow). Unfortunately, Liberty Mutual has not been very helpful. Each step of the way, I have had to bug them. The last straw was that Tuesday I talked to a supervisor in the total loss claims unit and she told me that my vehicle has been totalled. I was told previously the car was worth $5900+. They have indicated the damage to the vehile is $4543, but in the event that maybe there is some unforseen damage that they don't know about the vehicle is a total loss. The supervisor indicated to me that they would have their claims adjuster go to the Liberty Mutual approved collision shop and reinspect to find out if there is any further damage and they would get back to me on Wednesday. Earlier today(Friday) I called the Collision shop and they had not been told to do any further assessment. This is unacceptable. I luckily now have the use of my sons truck, but I have already spent #360 on a rental car. Since noone will call me I am at a loss of what else to do.

Summary
Liberty Mutaual Insurance should be avoided at all costs. They deny legitimate claims,have extremely poor cusomer service and are only interested in the company's profitalbility. They are deserving of one of the lowest rankings in the insurance industry. There are many better and cheaper companies from which to choose. I am going to find one soon.

The below opinion that Liberty's service sucks is spot on. One of their insured rear ended me. They are trying to wiggle out of any liability. The phone rep made a point that if we got cut off on our phone conversation not to try and call back, she would get back with me immediately----that was two days ago--- THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE GOES DEAD WHEN YOU TRY AND COMPLAIN. they make a deliberate attempt to discourage you and hope you will give up---The whole stinking mess of them deserve to be put to the lash--- beware of getting involved in any way with this bunch of jokers

I have used Liberty Mutual for years to cover my house and cars. I submitted a claim for damage to my house for the first. they would not spend $2300.00 match the siding on my house and more or less told me they did not care for my business. They claim customer satisfaction is important to them, the only thing important to Liberty Mutual is money I would not recommend this copany to anyone in Ohio

IN the 3 years since I had filed a claim, Liberty Mutual did not visit the insured damaged property or send someone out to assist me. I finally had to settle for 1/3 of my costs so I would not lose my home in forclosure.As a disabled single adult, the adjuster took it for granted he would not have to settle with me, i WOULD JUST FOLD. wELL I did settle for $90,000. this week but I was really due the $250,000 I was entitled too. But their salary paid lawyers would have just drawn this out longer and I would have lost my home. Do Not do business with them in Maine.They are not to be trusted.

Liberty Mutual sucks! We were involved in an accident whereby a Liberty Mutual insured ran a stop sign and hit our car. LM refused to answer calls or return calls for up to a week after the accident. It took them 10 days to even have someone go look at our car to assess the damages - which was the first step in the process to get our car fixed. Also 10 days later, they have yet to talk to their insured to get her side of the story (also one of their "mandatory" processes before they will consider liability). Finally, an adjuster went and looked at our car and estimated the damages $1000 less than did our own insurance company. Furthermore, despite the fact that their insured ran a stop sign and the police and witnesses verify that she was a fault...they refused to accept full responsibility for the accident! Instead they insist on calling us with low-ball offers and trying to play the waiting game so that we get emotionally and financially exhausted of the fight and accept less than what we are owed. Here we are day 12 and our car has JUST been taken into a shop with an estimated repair time of 11-14 days. When it's all said and done we will have gone a month without our car, paid a car note on an undriveable car, paid out of pocket for a rental car (since they refuse to pay since they will not accept liability) and paid our own deductible just to have the car fixed by our own co.) since LM refuses and wants to play the waiting game. Not being insured with them, I don't know how their rates are but whatever it is it's too much since all they are doing is taking the money and avoiding people, refusing to take responsibility for claims. I don't know how they will stay in business with unethical practices like this!!!

incompentent to the nth degree. liberty towed my car to a salvage yard without autorization, and i only found out when I called the collision yard to find out when I should come by to collect my plates and belongings inside the car. Then the car was towed to my home, since Liberty had in effect appropriated my property, dumped on the wrong side of the road, and directly on top of a "no parking sign" at the bottom of a poorly lit hill. The car is still there, 10 hours later, not movable since it was already in the process of being strippped for parts, and no one will pick it up and tow it back where it came from. Claims is closed... Very funny how liberty's roadside assistance deals with cars which go to shops... they don't have our records and I don't even know which slavage yard it should go back to... and either do they. Claims is shut ( surprise!) and there seems ot be no one at Liberty how can make right this series of wrongs. I have wasted hours and hours of my time on the phone with people who don't understand how to start and finish a job. And now that van has its hazards blinking... I pray no one smashes into it ,as they could get hurt.... of course that would rest on Liberty Mutual. This should not be my problem but I like my neighbors and don't want bloodshed due to Liberty's incapabilities. Rating? Well I am a teacher and Liberty has achieved a spectacular "F". I will go out of my way to tell my story to whoever is looking for insurance, and plan to post this rating on every list serv I can. Liberty is obviously floundering under the bureaucracy so that no one takes reponsibility as there is always yet another dept involved. Followup? "F". Ease for the customer? "F". Price of policy? Not worth it. We are switching insurances as soon as we get our total loss check ( and boy is that a joke!we had to fight for every penny! And I mean pennies!) So much for your "teams". When my BMW was vandalized in November, I was hesitant to file a claim. My deductible was $500 and I wasn't sure if it would be worthwhile. My previous experience with insurance companies had been very poor and I assumed that it would just be a hassle. My wife insisted that I call. Amy Bates was terrific. She sent someone out to look at the damage the very next day. The glass replacement was less than my deductible, but the stereo damage was more. I wasn't happy with the original estimate so I got one more on my own. Once I had that, I faxed it into the claims office and the check was cut the following day.
